Maxine Phillips to serve on American Diabetes Eastern Division, North Carolina Committee
Raleigh, NC – April 2016
Maxine Phillips has accepted an invitation from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Eastern Division in North Carolina Community Leadership Board to serve on its Leadership Council where she will advocate for a variety of issues on behalf of all people affected by diabetes. As a member of this committee, a Live Power Ambassador and the Team Captain for Team Phillips Family & Friends, Maxine will draw from her experience as a small business owner, and type 2 diabetic who has reversed her diabetes for the past five years and now offers Type 2 Diabetes Management Coaching as part of her Life and Career Coaching firm.
“Being a member of ADA CLB is an honor,” said Maxine Phillips. “Having the opportunity to provide an influential voice at the regional level for all people affected by diabetes complements my passion to help others excel in life. I am eager to share my knowledge, time and resources with the members of this committee.”
Maxine is no stranger to advocating for diabetes. This is the seventh year Team Phillips Family/Friends are participating in the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes that will be held on November 5. Since she began the team, they have raised over $30,000 in donations.
“Maxine has served as an inspiration for those families dealing with diabetes by sharing her family’s story, and that of her late husband, Greg, who is the inspiration for her team and the reason she initially got involved with the ADA,” shared Jim Straight, Area Director of the American Diabetes Association for the Carolinas. “We are very thankful to have Maxine as one of our top fundraisers and as one of our top motivators for everyone involved with the walk. And now we are even more excited and thankful to have her recently agree to sit on our local leadership board. Maxine is a powerful ally in our fight to stop diabetes!
The mission of the ADA is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Maxine’s call to action is for more companies or individuals to become a sponsor of Tour de Cure and the Step Out Walk, more volunteers to serve, and for more people to create a team (whether it be at your church, school, organization, family/friend or even create a virtual team). Together We Can Achieve More!
